An Exciting 10 hours in Venice!

My favourite Irish friend and I decided to jump on one of Ryanair's cheap seats and leave London, pass over the white capped Alps....
...and into Venice Italy.  The 2 hours flight seemed to come and go in no time (we had to wake up and leave the house at 0215, by the time we landed in Venice we had 10 hours before our late flight left back for London.  By the time we hit the sheets it was 0200 the following morning, up early to get the kids to school and off to work all in the same day, but worth every moment.  Italy is charming and Venice by far is my favorite Italian city.
After catching the vaporetto (waterbus) we headed to San Marco square to San Marco Basilica.
It was awe inspiring, this beautiful place of worship.  The detail in the large mosaics were amazing, it must have taken so long to put in place every little detail.
 The Bridge of Sighs.
Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo (the outward snail staircase) built in the 15th century.

A gondolier waiting to punt someone down Venice's enchanting canals.
 Fresh alpine water, anyone?
Does this look slanted to you?
Santa Maria Gloriosa Ferrari church, built in 125, Italian Gothic style.

And to all my violin students, a musical term we use seen on the bus route.
